Cregneash is hosting its big annual Manx Hop tu Naa Festival, a fun festival of Manx tradition for all ages. The festival features music, crafts, dancing, and spooky turnip lanterns. Manx Hop tu Naa is a New Year festival rooted in the Celtic calendar, marking the end of harvest and the start of longer nights with a moment of thanks and celebration for those involved in the harvest.

Celebrate Hop tu Naa at Cregneash with music, crafts, dancing, and spooky turnip lanterns – a fun festival of Manx tradition for all ages!

Cregneash is hosting its big annual Manx Hop tu Naa Festival on Saturday, 25th October.

Manx Hop tu Naa is a New Year festival rooted in the Celtic calendar, tied to the same traditions as Scotland's Hogmanay but celebrated at this time of year. It marks the end of harvest and the start of longer nights a moment of thanks and celebration for those who worked by daylight.

At the event, you can:

  • Carve your own spooky moot (turnip) lantern.
  • Enjoy live Manx music and join a sing-along of the Hop tu Naa song with Matt Kelly

Get hands-on with:

  • Herbal charm-making in Jinny the Witches' Cottage
  • Arts and crafts in The Harvest Craft Cottage
  • Hollantide cooking and dumb cake demos
  • Listening to Manx fairytales by the fire in Church Farm Parlour
  • Learning about Hop tu Naa superstitions.
  • Making salt dough Hollantide Fairings in Quirks Croft
