The Isle of Man Orienteering Klubb, in collaboration with the Isle of Man Girl Guides and Isle of Man Scouts, is hosting a ‘Come & Try’ orienteering activity at Tynwald Arboretum. Participants will have the opportunity to explore orienteering and try to find as many controls as possible during the event.

Sunday Orienteering 21st September 2025.

Isle of Man Orienteering Klubb, Isle of Man Girl Guides & Isle of Man Scouts ‘Come & Try’ Orienteering Activity.
• Find as many controls as you can in 1 hour!
• Mass START.
• Activity suitable for Individuals & Groups.
• Your choice to Walk, Jog or Run.
• Wear suitable clothing and footwear for weather conditions & time of year.
• Remote supervision of children during activity & before & after activity by group leaders.
• Compass is optional, to assist with navigation.

Registration time: 1:30am - 2:00pm.
Leaders meet unit participants to explain what to do: 2:00pm - 2.20pm.
Mass START at 2:30pm.

Participants must return to the finish within 1 hour to avoid a time penalty! All participants must report to the finish by 3:40pm at the latest. Leaders to check all participants have returned.

Orienteering maps & scorecards proivided.
Various Categories - SOLO & GROUPS: Brownies / Cubs / Guiders / Scouts / Rangers / Explorers.
Registration, Start & Finish Area: Beside War Memorial in Tynwald Fair field, near St John’s Church (registration signposted from car parking location & A1 road).

Event Activity –
You have 1 hour to locate as many of the orange & white control flags marked on your map and to pin-punch your scorecard to prove that you have visited each location. You can navigate to control flags in whatever order you choose, but remember you are penalised if you return late!
